A Kick In The Baubles

A KICK IN THE BAUBLES by Gordon Steel

January 26, 27, 28  2017

And so to our second production of the season, as you may have seen in our previous post we are excited  that Gareth Tudor-Price has offered to assist in the staging of this play. Gareth is a freelance theatre director and producer and a longtime friend of the Petuaria Players.  He was artistic director at Hull Truck for nearly 10 years during which he commissioned, developed and directed this play for its first production in 2005.  Read more here.

As for the play:  It’s another peaceful Christmas in the Bailey household, but chestnuts aren’t roasting on an open fire. And, although a Silent Night would be welcome, all is not calm and all is certainly not bright.

Frank does not wish it could be Christmas every day – in fact, he’s dreading the arrival of his snobbish in-laws who only ever bring a single bottle of wine for the entire festivities. Throw in a couple of larger-than-life neighbours, let the drink flow merrily, and everything is set for a car-crash Christmas.

A hilarious antidote to your recent Christmas produced by Janet Drewery with artistic direction and input from Gareth Tudor Price.

Cast: (order of appearance) Steve Howland, Jayne Hewson, Rob Newton, Dianne Turner, Adam Craven, Tom Fryer, Wendy Fairburn, Rachel Miller.

Professional help….

Gareth Tudor Price to assist in staging our January production.

We are excited to announce that Gareth Tudor Price has offered to assist in the staging of A Kick in the Baubles by Gordon Steel.  Gareth is a freelance theatre director and producer and a longtime friend of the Petuaria Players.  As an actor he has had credits in The Bill, Prime Suspect, Heartbeat and GBH amongst others.  He was artistic director at Hull Truck for nearly 10 years during which he commissioned, developed and directed this play for its first production in 2005.

Gareth Tudor Price

When he heard that we were considering A Kick in the Baubles he was keen to offer his help and we were equally keen to accept. Gareth will be providing invaluable artistic direction and advice and we hope to gain from his professional insight.  Rehearsals will start in November.

Before then Gareth will be directing Moby Dick adapted by John Godber and Nick Lane 19th October to 3rd November in what promises to be an adventurous production in-the-round at the York Guildhall.

Tickets available from York Theatre Royal.  For more information click here on MOBY DICK
