Rehearsals for The Sweet Delilah Swim Club continue and with just a month to go everyone is looking forward to our next production going live onstage – well, perhaps with a little trepidation from the cast..

It’s at this stage we are introducing all the music and sound effects and props as the actors leave their scripts to one side, and the rest of the production team are thinking about arrangements backstage and the constructions and decor of the set.

Seats are selling well and there are seats available every night at present, though Thursday and Saturday have the best choices available.

The Sweet Delilah Swim Club

By the same writers as our popular 2017 production of The Hallelujah Girls (Jones-Hope-Wooten) this light hearted and touching comedy is the story of five women, whose friendship began decades ago on their college swim team.

The play takes us through four summer weekend visits over those decades to the Sweet Delilah beach cottage on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

It’s all go again at The Petuaria Players.

Rehearsals are now well under way for our next production due this coming May. THE SWEET DELILAH SWIM CLUB is another comedy from the same authors that gave us The Hallelujah Girls.

In 2017 we performed The Hallelujah Girls, a comedy set in the southern states of the USA, written by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope & Jamie Wooten , a successful American writing trio that have written for TV and movies.  This May we are pleased to bring you another of their popular plays.  Directed by Janet Drewery, this is a play that is truly an all female production. 

Once again this is a story based in the southern states of the US, this time in a coastal cottage on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

Five women, whose friendships began years ago on their college swim team, still meet every summer to catch up on their lives at the Sweet Delilah beach cottage in North Carolina.  We follow them through four weekend visits spread over three decades and learn about these unforgettable women in a hilarious and touching comedy about friendships that last forever….

Y’all gonna have fuuuun!

Open Night

What’s an Open Night? It’s an opportunity to come and meet the members at our rehearsal room near the Village Hall, have a cuppa and some nibbles and a chat and find out if you’d like to get involved in helping us.

Like many amateur drama groups across the country it is becoming difficult to maintain the effort required to bring shows to the local community – both through supporting activities and having sufficient actors to cast in plays (especially male roles and indeed younger characters). An 85 year old Sir Ian McKellen recently played a young Prince Hamlet in an age-blind production on stage. Whilst we’re not in that bracket our cast numbers and age profile does limit our choice of productions and this year we are embarking on a campaign of increasing our visibility and encouraging local people (experienced or newcomers) to consider acting (or just helping) in this well-liked and respected drama group.

Announcement – Date Change

It’s still five months away but we need to inform you that the performance dates for our next play have had to be changed due to cast availability.

The Sweet Delilah Swim Club will now be one week earlier than previously advertised and we must apologise to all those who have already put dates in their calendars or booked in advance.

The new dates are Thurs 8th to Saturday 10th of May 2025.

We will, of course, shortly be contacting all those who have already booked seats and our season ticket holders.

Once again, apologies to those who have just booked and for the inconvenience.
