Help Needed for Party Piece

Hi folks. This is a call-out for anyone who’d like to get involved with support for our next production.

Party Piece (we love a challenge….) is heavy on props and equipment and Janet Lamb has kindly agreed to manage the props for this play. However, she cannot do this alone and needs helpers.

This means being backstage during performance week to set the stage and provide props but also for some weeks beforehand at our rehearsals.

If you’d like to help and get involved with local amateur drama please contact us to find out more. Thanks.

HAPPY XMAS!

Time to be drawing a close to 2025 already. All the Petuaria Players are in seasonal holiday mode and after hours, days, weeks, months of dedication and effort that is part of being in a drama group, we are spending quality time chilling and relaxing or with family (are the two mutually exclusive?). 😉

After our Christmas night out in early December we have gone our separate ways for a while with no meetings until the New Year.

This is a year saw a recruitment campaign for membership early on and two productions that were – just as the USA occupies the news for other reasons – based in North Carolina and New York and provided a total of 9 parts for women and one man.

The USA theme wasn’t pre-planned, the choices were somewhat defined by cast availability. Looking forward to 2026 (and our 65th anniversary) we expect to see the fruit of our campaign bring new and past members back to the stage.

So the Petuaria Players are signing off and will return in January with all the usual updates and news of our next production…. but let’s leave that to next year and in the meanwhile all of us from The Petuaria Players wish all our followers – past, present and future – a very:

The Cemetery Club. The Photos.

Suddenly a week has passed by since we dismantled the set of our last production. We closed on Saturday the 15th November and everyone has been resting after a lot of hard work leading up to the show.

We first performed Ivan Menchell’s The Cemetery Club in 2011 and the opportunity arose to create a new production this year, once again taking on the challenge of a dual set featuring a cemetery meeting place and a homely lounge in the Forest Hills area of New York, coupled with the additional challenge of the localised Jewish New York accent needed to make the most of Menchell’s script and witty one liners.

[P.S. if you are in a theatrical group considering this play then our ‘gravestones’ are still available as props – see the photos – simply get in touch with us to discuss]

Cast (Left to Right): Sue Allan as Doris, Dianne Turner as Ida. Steve Howland as Sam, Janet Drewery as Lucille , and introducing Janet Lamb as Mildred.
