No, not us this time but we think you should know that our friends at the Cave Players are presenting a Murder Mystery Evening this September in our usual venue, Elloughton Brough Village Hall.
REMAINS OF MURDER is an entertaining murder mystery where you and your team need to work out whodunnit and possibly win the prize. Bring your own food and drink, enter the raffle and have a great time for just £10 per person.
NOTE: booking for this event is via the number shown below.
No, not the title of our next production. That’s something we are still working on during our summer recess. Watch this space for news on that particular subject – we normally expect to announce our new season sometime in August.
Meanwhile we hope you haven’t forgotten about us and are looking forward to seeing our mid-November production – whatever it will be. So we cannot tell you what the future holds but we can tell you about the past and remind you of the plays that have brought us to today.
2026 will be The Petuaria Players’ 65th anniversary and during that time we have presented almost 180 productions and lots of memories.
ALL OUR PRODUCTIONS – 1961 to 2025
How many of these do you remember? How many of them have you seen? Let us know in the comments..
Our enjoyable and much-loved run of The Sweet Delilah Swim Club ended on the 10th May which completes our 2024/25 season – aaaaaahhh! (a collective sigh all round after all the necessary intensive work required to put on a performance.)
We now embark upon our ‘summer break’ during which we meet up to read through scripts and start the process of selecting and casting our plays for the next November and May productions.
Meanwhile we can now share some photos taken during dress rehearsal that give you a flavour (and perhaps a few memories) of the show.
Putting on American plays, not least those based in the southern states, can be a challenge but we have done it successfully many times before and we achieved it again. Okay – whilst North Carolinians may not have been fooled – our local audience certainly were transported to a beach cottage on the Outer Banks for a few weekends through the decades with a great performance from our all-female cast. The audience loved their story, the humour and, of course, there were a few tears.
This was our second comedy from the Jones, Hope, Wooten writing team who are among the most popular and widely-produced playwrights in the US. They specialize in writing laugh-out-loud comedies and creating vivid strong roles for women and between them, they’ve written classic television, hit movies, and Off-Broadway comedy. It won’t surprise you that Jamie Wooten was a writer and producer for many seasons of the classic television series The Golden Girls.

Tonight, after many long hours, we reach opening night on The Sweet Delilah Swim Club. It’s a wonderful show – warm, funny and just what we all need.
We had to schedule it for this week, despite it being a Bank Holiday week and, of course the important 80th VE Day events. As a result, we still have some tickets left – last minute bookings are accepted – especially for Saturday night, so please ensure you or your friends come along to support local theatre for just £10 including refreshments and great entertainment.
Last night’s Dress Rehearsal had everyone fired up and ready to go live tonight. Here’s a little teaser video from our rehearsal night…
